This in-field hands-on course walks through several simple ways for making technically and aesthetically excellent photographs. Some of the main topics include making sharp images, the 8 rules of composition that you need to know, and how to use the light to your advantage.

The workshop is creatively based and mostly non-technical. However, you must have a mastery of their camera's operation. As for equipment, you must own a camera that is serious enough to allow you to set the aperture and shutter speeds manually. It's best to have a digital SLR or an ADVANCED point-and-shoot camera. A digital camera is usually the best learning tool because it gives you instant feedback and helps you to learn more quickly. But, if you have a film camera, you'll do fine.

During the evening of the first day, an indoor class lecture and discussion is held to familiarize you with the techniques and fundamentals. On day two, we meet in an outdoor setting for hands-on field instruction to put into practice what you learned. We will start in the late afternoon and shoot until sunset.

Seven days after the field days is automatically reseved as the rain date. So, please also reserve this day on your calendar.

COURSE AGENDA
The initial session take place at my home studio in Downers Grove at 7:00pm on Friday. You will receive a presentation that will teach you the various fundamentals and techniques. The class is very interactive and gives lots of examples to help you absorb the information.

On the following day, Saturday, we will meet at a nearby location at 5:30pm to practice and employ these techniques.

In the field, you will be taught and guided as you take pictures using the techniques that you learned in the classroom. The session will last until around sunset.

The class will be limited to a small number of participants so you can get the attention you require. The cutoff will be somewhere around 6 to 8 students, depending on the experience level of the participants. So, please register quickly to insure a spot.

Workshop Price: $150     Deposit: $150
